I would like to put a collection of pictures here that show people with the fish they have caught.
My great-grandfather, James Sanders (Big Doc), was known throughout Hickman County for his ability to catch fish. He had a special technique he used. He would wade out into the Duck River, sometimes neck-deep, and feel with his feet until he found a hole or a hollow log. Then he would reach down with his hand and feel for a catfish. When he found one, he would grab it by the gills and haul it in. According to Mama, he usually left all his clothes on the riverbank, so he would have dry clothes to walk home in. He provided many people around the county with fish, including his own family, but apparently he never ate any himself - he didn't like the taste of catfish! skb
When you add a story or photo about fishing, just under the place where you add who is in the photo, where and when it was, there is a check box for fishing. Check that box, and the story will show up on this page. We will be adding other categories as we go along.
